AT-HOME LEARNING/HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS:
· Math: See homework grid on back of newsletter
· Spelling: See home work grid on back of newsletter
· Bag Book Reading: We will meet at least three times per week.
· Read every night for at least 15 minutes; record your book titles in your agenda.
FOCUS FOR THIS WEEK:
Language Arts: We will read “A Basket for Tia”
Vocabulary from text: aunt, bank, basket, collects, favorite, present
Word Wall Words: collect, build, race, cry, cries
Math: We will review for the math assessment at the beginning of the week and will take the assessment at the end of the week.
Writing: Continue The Sundae Bowl – 6 Traits of writing
Science/Social Studies: Continue the 3 States of Matter Unit
IMPORTANT DATES:
· January 14, 2011 – End of 2nd Quarter
· January 17, 2011 – Martin Luther King Holiday
· January 18, 2011 – MAKE UP DAY STUDENTS HAVE SCHOOL!!!!
· January 19-21, 2011 – Student-led Conferences – Time and date for second grade will be announced.
· January 21, 2011 – Report Card/Awards Assembly
NEWS, NOTES, and REMINDERS:
- Please be sure to SIGN your child’s homework grid and behavior tracker/calendar each night! This lets us know that you are aware of your child’s homework assignments and behavior in class.
- Make sure that any books your child reads are written down on their reading log and sign their reading log.
