AT-HOME LEARNING/HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS: 

·   Math:  See homework grid on back of newsletter

·   Spelling:  Vowel sounds: Refer to your child’s spelling folder

·   Read every night for at least 15 minutes, record your book titles and summary on your

Reading Log.



FOCUS FOR THIS WEEK:                         

Language Arts: Read “Turtle’s  Race with Beaver”



Vocabulary from text:  buried, dam, lodge, challenge, halfway, embarrassed



Word Wall Words:   toward, ago, word, whole, above, enough



Math:   Review all the concepts learned so far



Writing:  Nouns, Kinds of sentences, End Marks



Science/Social Studies: Building communities within the classroom/Neighborhoods

October 10-20, 2011 : First Quarterly Assessments ( part of each day)

October 21and 24, 2011: Teacher Workdays, No School for students

October 27, 2011: Field Trip to  Charles B. Aycock birthplace

October 28, 2011: Fall Party: Mr. B’s class 2:00-3:00 pm/Report Card goes home,

October 28,2011: Awards Ceremony

October 31, 2011: Fall Party: Ms. Johnson’s class 12:45-1:30 pm



NEWS, NOTES, and REMINDERS:

  • Please be sure to SIGN your child’s homework grid and behavior tracker/calendar each night! This lets us know that you are aware of your child’s homework assignments and behavior in class.
  • Make sure that any books your child reads are written down on their reading log and sign their reading log.
